Now that you have researched your inventor and invention you are ready to come up with your own idea. Your invention can be anything! It can be a new product or an improvement to a current product. Nonetheless it is something new. To begin the process you need to brainstorm with some peers around you and discuss things in your life that you feel need improvement for your daily life. Rather than coming up with an actual product, you may decide to come up with a better way of doing something. You might decide to come up with a mnemonic device or even a card game or board game.
Once you have your own idea you will need to get an Intent to Invent form from your teacher and have your parents sign it so they understand what you are going to be doing and possibly to allow some assistance if needed. This will be returned to your teacher once signed by your parents.
